I'm not sure how many of you remember, but I ran for the NYS Senate here in New York in 2006.
I'm uncomfortable with kos' Netroots Hero tag, but I believe, at the time, I was the first, or one of the first, Kossacks to push away the keyboard and jump into the political arena as a candidate.
It was a life altering event, to say the least. Well, I'm thinking about hopping in again. More past the swirly art form.
Here's the skinny.
Earlier this month, we had an election for County Exec. here in Dutchess County New York. The winner of that race was my Assemblyman, Mark Molinaro...a likable enough young guy who wanted out of Albany because (I'm projecting here) being a GOP Assemblyman is the plankton of the New York State political food chain. The Dems have close to a super majority in the Assembly and that isn't going to change in anyone's life time.
Back to the skinny. Come January, Molinaro will be sworn in and that will leave a vacancy in the Assembly...and a potential special election.
Well, I've spoken with some folks and they think it would be a good idea for me to go for it...but I wanted to take your temp. It would mean a quick campaign and some fast money. But, after thinking I wouldn't run again, it's in my head.
What do you think?
